10 Things To Do If You’re Feeling Burnt Out by Social Media

As a social media manager and content creator, I know the feeling of being burnt out. The constant “scrolling for ideas,” or having to “check on updates to the algorithm,” can be exhausting. Luckily, there are things you can do to help digitally detox and improve your mental health.
1.Gardening
If you’ve been wanting to spruce up your yard or patio with some beautiful flowers or save some money by growing your own produce and herbs, gardening is the way to go! You’ll be able to enjoy some fresh air while embracing the Earth. Next thing you know, once mid/late summer, you’ll see the fruits of your harvest.
2. Painting
One of my absolutely favorite ways to relax is through painting. There are many ways to paint, from paint-by-number to abstract, to landscape painting, still-life, and more! Paint whatever your heart and soul tell you to. Let the creativity flow.
3. Jewelry Making
Stress is out, friendship bracelets are in. You can make tons of different jewelry for concerts, friends, for you, or as gifts! Have fun with the various bead color combinations you can think of!
4. Baking
Are you a foodie who loves a sweet treat? Baking would be perfect for you. Instead of looking up a recipe online, pull out a recipe from Grandma’s cookbook (or the family cookbook) and indulge in something that’s delicious and sentimental!
5. Card Making
Nothing brightens anyone’s day than a handwritten card. Get paper, stickers, markers, or whatever you’d like to create this card, and go crazy!
6. Scrapbooking
Did you know, you could use all the materials you used from card-making to scrapbooking? Print memorable photos, grab the stickers and ribbons, and have fun with it!
7. Reading (A Physical Book)
Getting into a physical book is a great way to digitally detox. Check out local bookshops to grab a new read, support a small indie author, or go visit your local library.
8. Pottery
You can always go to a local studio or take a class for pottery. But did you know you can also work on pottery at home? There are many pottery kits available and all you need is an oven!
9. Hiking
What beats social media burnout? Spending time in nature! Find new hiking spots to enjoy, you never know what scenic views you’ll find.
10. Soap Making
If you love knowing what you’re putting on your body and want to experiment with scents, what better way than to work with soap making? This can also be a perfect gift to add to your homemade card!
