Mindful Practices for a More Grounded Fall

Embrace the Season: Simple Ways to Cultivate Mindfulness This Fall

As I'm writing this blog post, it’s raining, the air feels colder, and the leaves are starting to change. Watching the change in the seasons and looking ahead at my calendar made me wonder, “How can I stay relaxed as we have so much going on this Fall and in preparation for the upcoming holidays as well?” I’m pretty sure some of you feel just the same. Hence, this new blog post. If you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed, here are some mindful practices that I’d like to share with you to cope with the seasonal changes for a more grounded Fall.

If you like to stay active but don’t like the heat, now is the perfect time to take mindful walks outdoors. Incorporate regular nature walks into your Fall wellness routine. Embrace the crisp air and the beauty of the changing colors. After your walk, sit down, take a moment to breathe, and think about what you saw and felt during this nature walk. I also know that some people deal with Seasonal Depression during this time, so going on a nature walk, especially under the sun can help.

Seasonal Meditation

Meditation can be an easy way to have some stress relief for Fall. Switch it up and try meditation near an open window or even outdoors to feel the autumn breeze as you meditate. Ground yourself with simple breathwork. If you decide to be outdoors, take a moment to visualize yourself being more connected to the earth, especially during this seasonal change.

Mindful Cooking and Eating

A fall harvest brings in many seasonal fruits and vegetables such as apples, pumpkins, kale, squash, and more. You can be grounded as you cook, being fully present in the act of cooking but also enjoying the colors and smells of your meal. When eating, savor each bite, appreciating all the flavors and the nourishment it provides!

Cozy Journaling and Practicing Gratitude

Create a ritual of journaling daily and practicing gratitude. As the days get shorter, you might feel a little rough, thus Fall is the perfect time to cultivate gratitude. In your journal, write at least three things you are grateful for, focus on the little things, and spend it with a cozy blanket and warm drink in hand. This practice can help ground you to appreciate the little things and have an abundance perspective throughout the season and before the busy holidays.

When you incorporate these practices throughout your Fall routine, it will help you remain grounded, present, and connected to the season’s slower pace.
